My Lighthouse

I love lighthouses. I collect just about anything with lighthouses inside it or printed on it. Not only are the structures themselves fascinating and the purpose they serve majestic, but I find comfort and peace in them.

A lighthouse acts as a guide; guiding ships away from unkown dangers. A lighthouse is also the sailor's first sight of home. It's a comfort to see the lighthouse, to know that they are finally home. It's the light in the middle of a ragin storm, calling the sailor closer and closer to safety. The lighthouse, in one form, serves many purposes.

My favorite Biblical verse is Psalm 27:1. It reads, "The LORD is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?" Whenever I see a lighthouse, I think of this verse. When the storms of life are raging all around me and I feel like I'm drowning, I think of this verse. The LORD is my Lighthouse.

In my last entry, I discussed a test that I had looming on the horizong. A test that had become an albatross around my neck, dragging me down. This test has haunted me for six years, making me feel like a failure. I took the test on Aug 2nd and found out this past Monday that I passed. It was such a great feeling. I cried I was so overwhelmed with Joy. This has been a burden that I've carried for six years and when I finally passed, I felt this HUGE weight being lifted.

In Psalm 37:4, it reads, "Delight yourself in the LORD and He will give you the desires of your heart." Through the storms of life and the seemingly impossbile obstacles, it is sometimes difficult to keep your eyes on the LORD. It is exceedingly difficult to "delight" yourself in the LORD when the storms are raging around you

My storms seem small in comparison to others around me, but I find comfort in the fact that God holds me in His hand. Protecting me from my storm. God is my Lighthouse. My safety. My stronghold. My salvation.
